Start with the equipment and the purpose of your inquiry
Choosing a PPS separator for alkaline water electrolysis starts with the requirements of the electrolyzer. A useful inquiry connects those requirements with the exact separator model, the relevant technical documents and the proposed evaluation. The following checklist helps engineering and purchasing teams prepare that information together.
State whether you are developing a new alkaline electrolyzer, evaluating laboratory samples or replacing separators in existing equipment. For a replacement, identify the current material and explain any issue you want to address. Similar dimensions or a familiar model name do not establish compatibility with an existing cell.
Describe the operating conditions
Provide the electrolyte type and concentration, operating temperature range and intended current density. For KOH, state the concentration and its basis, such as mass percentage. Include the operating pressure on each side and the expected pressure difference between the cathode and anode compartments, using clearly stated units.
Distinguish normal operation from start-up, shutdown or other expected changes. These details provide a basis for discussing suitability with the supplier. A resistance measurement at a stated temperature is a test condition; it does not define the maximum continuous operating temperature or the complete operating range of a separator.
Specify dimensions and assembly requirements
Share the required outer dimensions, active area, allowable separator thickness and dimensional tolerances. Where relevant, provide a drawing that identifies the outline, openings and sealing areas. Indicate whether you need sheet material for your own cutting process or want to discuss a particular cutting requirement.
Explain how the separator will be positioned, supported and sealed in the cell. Confirm the exact model designation and its applicable technical document before finalizing the design or order. Published sheet dimensions are a starting point for discussion; they do not confirm that every shape, thickness or assembly arrangement is available or suitable.
Define how performance will be compared
Identify which properties matter to your evaluation, such as area resistance, gas barrier performance, wetting and mechanical strength. Request the corresponding model data together with the test method and conditions. When comparing area resistance, check the temperature, electrolyte concentration and measurement method alongside the value and unit.
If gas purity is part of your evaluation, record the cell operating conditions and the sampling and measurement method. A result obtained in one setup should not be treated as a guaranteed result in another electrolyzer. Agree the evaluation conditions and acceptance criteria before drawing conclusions about suitability.
Separate sample evaluation from production requirements
For samples, state the quantity, dimensions, evaluation purpose and the technical information you need. Agree which checks will be performed, who will perform them and how results will be recorded. This makes subsequent feedback easier to relate to the supplied material and the actual test conditions.
For a production inquiry, add the expected order quantity, delivery destination and requested schedule. Confirm the agreed model, dimensions, tolerances, inspection requirements and accompanying documents. Sample observations support the discussion, while the applicable technical documents and mutually agreed requirements define acceptance and delivery.
Use this outline for your first inquiry
Project: new alkaline electrolyzer, laboratory evaluation or replacement; current separator if applicable. Operating conditions: electrolyte type, concentration and its basis, temperature range, current density, pressure on each side and differential pressure.
Geometry: outer dimensions, active area, thickness range, tolerances and drawing if available. Evaluation: properties to assess, proposed test conditions, acceptance criteria to agree and technical documents requested. Supply: sample quantity, expected production quantity, delivery destination and requested schedule.
Send the available information to the Jinlun / Gongyuan team through the contact page. Mark any unknown items as pending so they can be clarified during the selection discussion. This checklist builds on the brochure's guidance on application requirements, separator specifications and agreed technical documents; suitability and supply details must be confirmed for the exact model and project.
